The Planning and Highways Committee was scheduled to meet on 1 July 2026 for its monthly meeting. However, as only one planning application was received for consideration and the Committee considered that it did not require detailed discussion, the matter will instead be dealt with under Section 17 of the Committee’s Terms of Reference and the Council’s Scheme of Delegation.
Under this arrangement, the Town Clerk is authorised to prepare and submit the Council’s response following consultation with Committee members via the Council’s approved online platform.
Section 17 states:
Committee meetings will proceed as scheduled unless fewer than four planning applications are received and the Committee considers that none of the applications warrant detailed discussion. In such cases, and in accordance with the Council’s Scheme of Delegation, the Town Clerk is authorised to prepare and submit responses on behalf of the Council, following online consultation with Committee members via the Council’s approved platform. Where this process is used, members of the public will be notified and given the opportunity to observe or participate in the online consultation.
